The DeLong Bumblebee Bug Bait is designed to imitate a wounded bee that has fallen onto the water. Fish recognize insects as easy, high-protein meals, and when this lure lands near panfish, the reaction is instant.
Bluegill and crappie rush it aggressively—and from time to time, bass will absolutely crush it.
This is not a traditional topwater lure. The Bumblebee’s floating wings keep it suspended while the soft-plastic body sinks very slowly, just like a dying bee.
That slow fall is what triggers strikes.
Fish it by:
tying it directly to your line
casting near shorelines, docks, weeds, or panfish beds
letting it sit, twitch, and slowly sink
An ultra-light rod makes this bait come alive.
The Bumblebee comes ready to fish with a size 6 hook molded directly into the body, eliminating rigging and frustration. Like all DeLong bug baits, it’s hand-poured from durable plastic and infused with scent during the molding process so it lasts longer and attracts more fish.
Among DeLong’s wide selection of bug baits, the Bumblebee is the second most re-ordered, behind only the Mayfly Nymph. It’s also a personal favorite—which is why it earned a spot in the Kids Fishing Pack.
If it keeps kids engaged and catching fish, it works.
Every step of the lure-making process is designed to earn you as a lifetime customer:
Pre-rigged and ready to fish
Hand-poured for 10× durability
Scent infused directly into the plastic
Designed and made in the USA
Proven to catch fish, not just look good
Learn how to fish bug baits in the Beginner Fishing Guide
See why insects trigger strikes on bass in the Seasonal Fishing Guide
