The DeLong Snake is a 16" Soft-Plastic worm designed with one thing in mind. BIGGER BASS !!!
Rig the Snake just as you would a smaller soft-plastic worm. Texas Rig, Carolina Rig, on a big Jig Head. Use anywhere from a 5/0 to 8/0 hook depending on the hook gap. We recommend a wider gap hook.
People say to us...."that worm is too big for the bass in my area" or "that it is just to big to use" well....first of all take the Snake and ball it up in your hand. It now becomes no larger than alot of the lures you throw for bass. Secondly....how many times have you been fishing a lure for bass ( lets say a 9" worm ) and you catch a 10" bass on that worm. Was that 9" worm too big for that 10" bass to eat, obviously not. Its the same thing with the Snake...it just looks larger than normal to us, but not to a hungry bass. A ten pound bass did not grow that large from being a finicky eater, these fish are hungry predators and the larger the meal they eat the less time they have to spend looking for food. So feed them a 16" Delong Snake!!!
Most importantly..... and alot of fisherman do not know this, but..... a live snake is a favorite food for a Largemouth Bass. And you can make the DeLong Snake look just like a live snake by working it through cover or over open water structure.
When you get a strike on the Snake, be sure to have your camera ready, it just could be the biggest Bass you've ever caught.
